With T20 WC approaching, Sunil Gavaskar names India’s ‘impact player’ | Cricket

India and South Africa T20 ended in disappointment as the fifth and final showdown in Bengaluru on Sunday was canceled due to rain. The five match series tied 2-2 with this result.

The series began with South Africa defeating the hosts in the first two contests. However, the momentum changed and the hosts regained balance in the following matches.

While the big names were missing from the Indian side, the hosts made a decent effort and there were no problems when Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli’s absence appeared on the pitch. In fact the series proved to be a great opportunity for young Ishaan Kishan to return to the farm. Kishan had the Topsy-Turvy Indian Premier League (IPL) but scored the most runs of the tournament here. The 23-year-old has scored 206 runs in five matches.

The only other Indian batsman to have excelled is Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder, who returned to the national team for the first time in a year, finished as the third-highest run-scorer in the series. In four innings he played, Pandya batted at a strike rate of 153.95 and scored 117 runs. Though wicketless and a bit expensive, he bowled without any discomfort.

While evaluating Pandya’s performance, former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was impressed with the all-rounder performance. In fact, the 1983 World Cup-winner predicted he would be Team India’s “most effective player” and the T20 World Cup was fast approaching.

Gavaskar said, “He (Hardik Pandya) takes the game away from his opponent. He has done well in these matches. Star SportsOfficial broadcast partner of the series.

Gavaskar spoke of Pandya’s bowling and the former cricketers were satisfied with his body language despite the poor statistics and he considers it a “big plus” for India.

“When they start bowling regularly, at this time, they just lack confidence. They are bowling. It is a big plus for them.

Because he is going to be an influential player and he is actually an influential player on this team, ”he said.

Pandya had been out of the game for a considerable period and had to undergo a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore to participate in the IPL. The 28-year-old cricketer not only passed the fitness test but also took on the new Gujarat Titans in his debut season.

He will next make his appearance against Ireland, where he will lead the national team for the first time.
