Watch: Depay leaves defender for dead with outrageous skill, goal for Barcelona | Football News

Expected to leave in the ongoing transfer window, Memphis Depay produced an outstanding performance during Barcelona’s 6-0 pre-season friendly win over Inter Miami at the DRV PNK Stadium in Florida on Wednesday. The Dutch attacker came off the bench to score an outrageous goal for the Catalan outfit in the 69th minute, before defender Damian Lowe was dead set on driving home a low-range effort into the bottom-right corner. Here’s a video of the goal:

Depay chased the goal after receiving a pass in the opponent’s box. Löw tried to stop the attacker, but Depay had other plans as he stunned the defender and then followed it up with a superb finish.

Barcelona dominated Wednesday with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opening the scoring in the 19th minute, then Rafinha (25′) and Ansu Fati (41′) to make it 3-0 before half-time. In the second half, Gavi opened the scoring in the 55th minute, followed by a goal from Depay and then Ousmane Dembele in the 70th minute to seal proceedings.

Barcelona have been very active in the ongoing transfer window and recently acquired Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich for €50 million. The Poland player joined Bayern in 2014 and has won the league title every year since then and won the UEFA Champions League in 2020. He was selected as the FIFA Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021.

After passing his medical, Lewandowski said, “It was very easy to decide to come to Barca”.

“Barca is back. I hope I can help bring the team back to the top of European football.”

“I think we’ll get off to a winning start.”

“I love to win trophies and this is a new chapter for me with new challenges. It was an opportunity for me personally. I always wanted to play in La Liga and for a big team,” he said.
