Watch: Camera catches Kohli using The Undertaker’s iconic ‘throat slash’ at Gill | Cricket

It should be pretty obvious by now that Virat Kohli is a big WWE fan of the Attitude era that ruled the world of professional wrestling in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Be it a Test series between India and South Africa when Royal Challengers play for Bangalore – Kohli has repeatedly shown his love for the WWE through his actions in words. During the India-South Africa Test series, Kohli was caught with a stump microphone saying, “Finally, The Rock Back” Jasprit Bumrah was returning to the field, made by former WWE superstar The Rock. Kohli’s love for the WWE came to the fore again during the RCB’s IPL 2022 match against the Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. Kohli and his teammate Wriddhiman Saha recalled the iconic ‘throat-slash’ symbol of WWE legend Undertaker at the GT opener Shubhaman Gill as he walked out to bat. The camera quickly spotted Kohli giving Gill a glimpse of The Undertaker through his actions.

This is not the first time Kohli has used The Undertaker in this season of the IPL. Earlier this season, when RCB recorded an 18-run win over the Lucknow Super Giants, Kohli likened RCB’s comeback to the Undertaker’s resurrection. “It’s beautiful. Back under the pump and you come back. We’re like The Undertaker,” Kohli told Glenn Maxwell and captain Faf du Plessis.

Kohli has actually appeared twice on WWE legend John Cena’s Instagram handle. In July 2019, Cena shared a picture of Kohli lending his hand for a mysterious handshake, a classic reference to Cena’s ‘You Can’t See Me’ catchphrase, which he famously debuted during WWE. Two years later, ahead of the inaugural World Test Championship final, Cena shared another picture of Kohli batting with the Indian flag in the background. Fans are quick to jump on the conclusion that Cena probably backed Team India ahead of the Crunch final.
