Vinay Kumar Saxena, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), was appointed on Monday as the new Deputy Governor of Delhi (LG). This comes after Anil Baijal resigned from the position of LG in Delhi last week citing personal reasons.
A statement by Rashtrapati Bhavan said that President Ram Nath Kovind had accepted Paygal’s resignation as LG Delhi and appointed Vinai Kumar Saxena as the new Deputy Governor.
“The President of India was pleased to appoint Shri Vinay Kumar Saxena to be the Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi from the date of his assumption of office,” the statement said.
The sources said News 18Saxena has played a role in highlighting anti-corruption law violations by NGOs linked to Testa Sitalvad.
Saxena assumed the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of KVIC on October 27, 2015. KVIC operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises and is responsible for providing employment opportunities in rural areas through the implementation of Village Industry and Khadi Programs.
Prior to assuming his duties at KVIC, Saxena was the founder and president of the National Civil Liberties Council, which carried out extensive relief work in earthquake-affected areas of Gujarat.
According to a government statement, Saxena – in his capacity as the head of KVIC – brought e-governance into the Khadi sector and introduced electronic portals to distribute subsidies to both Khadi entrepreneurs, enterprises and craftsmen, thus achieving transparency and ease of implementation.
Meanwhile, CM Delhi Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to welcome Saxena and assured “full cooperation” from his government. He also wished Beagle all the best for the future.
