Marvel Studios is said to be developing a movie on Thunderbolts, the anti-hero/superhero team at Marvel Comics similar to capital suicide squad. According to Deadline, Jake Schreier, better known as Robot & Frank and Paper Towns, has been hired as the director and writer of Black Widow with Eric Pearson writing the screenplay.
Thunderbolts have an origin story similar to that of Suicide Squad, in that they were former villains turned heroes to protect Earth in the absence of the Avengers. However, in a twist it is revealed that they are masters of evil in disguise, the superillain team. Baron Zimo was the original leader of the group.
Once again, like the Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts are sent on missions to save the world and it’s Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt) who plays Amanda Waller with Suicide Squad.
It is not yet known who will be on the team. But the MCU has had a bunch of bad guys since its inception and we can expect at least the usual suspects like Zemo (Daniel Brühl), Abomination (Tim Roth), American Agent (Wyatt Russell) and even Florence Pugh’s Yelena to appear.

Unlike Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts have the advantage of actually exploring members’ backgrounds. The only problem is Hurt’s death, so Thunderbolts will need another coordinator. Marvel fans have been clamoring for the Sinister Six for years, and this is the next best thing until then.
Meanwhile, the upcoming MCU movie Thor: Love and Thunder is slated to premiere next month.
