Director Vivek Agnihotri’s controversial film, The Kashmir Files, was a huge hit with an impressive box office collection. The film based on the departure of Kashmiri Pandits, which was released on March 11, grossed Rs 331 crore at the box office across the globe.
Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Palavi Joshi and Mithun Chakraborty played lead roles in the film. After a successful theatrical release, the film was released on the OTT ZEE5 platform on May 13. Within a week, the movie had over 9 million (90 lakh) views.
According to reports, The Kashmir Files got the most views (6 million) and streaming minutes (220 million) in its opening weekend. In its first week, it garnered 9 million views and 300 million streaming minutes. The numbers clearly reveal that The Kashmir Files broke all records in ZEE5.
With this movie, ZEE5 also became the first OTT platform to release a movie with Indian Sign Language interpretation. Apart from Hindi, the movie was also released in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages. Last week, ZEE5 also organized a special screening of Hindi Sign Language film in Mumbai, which saw 500 hearing impaired people.
Vivek Agnihotri also held a concert in Mumbai on May 13, marking the OTT release of the film, The Kashmir Files Concert was staged after the film’s background score became furious. Vivek Agnihotri and Palavi Joshi performed in the concert. Announcing the concert, Vivek Agnihotri tweeted, “For the first time in history, the film’s background music has become so rage that we have decided to bring an exclusive concert for #TheKashmirFiles with stories told by the film’s lead cast at the ICONIC Royal Opera House. Open to all. May 13.”
