The Mahila Darbar will be held on June 10 where Telangana State Tamlesai Sundarajan will engage with women and hear their grievances. The public program is organized amid a minor gang rape incident in Hyderabad, which drew the country’s attention to law and order in the city.

The governor also requested a detailed report on the gang rape incident from the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Secretary General of the state government.

Tamilisai Sundarajan, who took over as Governor on September 9, 2019, has been conducting ‘Praja Darbar’ in Raj Bhavan since 2020.

The governor’s review meeting with officials on the Covid-19 pandemic on August 18, 2020 did not go well with the state government as it was not attended by senior officials.

Subsequently, the governor’s refusal to propose the nomination of B Kaushik Reddy as MLC under the governor’s quota in 2021 and the absence of the chief minister and ministers at the Raj Bhavan tea ceremony on Republic Day this year were among other issues. Visible points of friction between the governor and the TRS government.

Under these circumstances, everyone is eagerly waiting for how the state government will respond to Governor Mahila Darbar on June 10.

Meanwhile, CPI National Secretary Kankanala Narayana claimed that Telangana Governor had crossed Lakshman Rekha after he had taken the decision to conduct Mahila Darbar in Raj Bhavan. Narayana noted that the governor’s role in Telangana violated the spirit of the federal constitution, and urged her to cancel the Friday programme.
