Struck by lightning, Hyderabad-bound Air Asia flight returns to Bengaluru airport safely

Lightning struck an Air Asia flight bound for Hyderabad and returned to Bengaluru Airport on Tuesday morning. The plane landed safely and no one was injured in the accident.

An Air Asia spokesperson said, “AirAsia India flight I5-1576, operating from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, has returned to Bengaluru due to air traffic congestion caused by bad weather. Post-flight inspection revealed that the aircraft had been struck by lightning. Although Lightning strikes are rare, but they do happen, and the planes are protected from strikes that do not pose a danger.”
