Speed up land acquisition for Pune airport, says Girish Bapat

Bapat reviewed various projects and infrastructure development projects in and around Pune airport

Pune MP (MP) Girish Bapat on Sunday urged officials of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Indian Air Force (IAF) to expedite the land acquisition process for the expansion of Pune airport. Bapat is also the Chairman of the Pune Airport Advisory Committee

At the inspection meeting at Pune’s Lohegaon International Airport, he said, “The process of land acquisition must be completed at the western end of the PMC and IAF runway so that the existing runway can be extended to facilitate the landing of large aircraft. Improving international connectivity. ”

The total length of the runway at the airport is 2,530 meters.

Bapat reviewed various projects and infrastructure development work taking place in and around Pune airport.

“Bapat also visited the new terminal building which is 60% complete and a multi-level car parking facility which is expected to open to the public in September 2022,” Pune airport director Santosh Dhok said.

In concluding their inspection, Bapat said that with the steady growing traffic of passengers reaching the east end of Kovid, all infrastructure and development work being carried out in and around the airport should be completed in a timely manner so that passengers using the Pune airport can avail themselves. These include enhanced and improved facilities.

Bapat has instructed PMC officials to carry out cosmetic work around the airport and ensure that the necessary repair of roads and pedestrians is carried out as soon as possible.
