Sidhu Moosewala case: Pune Rural police arrest suspect from Gujarat

Pune Rural Police have arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of the murder of Punjabi singer and politician Seidu Musiwala, officials said on Monday. An official from Pune Rural Police said Santosh Jadhav was arrested from Gujarat by one of their squads on Sunday night and his police custody was later secured.

The team has also arrested another individual associated with Jadhav, who is also believed to be linked to the Seidu Musiwala case. The aforementioned official said the police were expected to share more information about the arrests later on Monday.

Jadhav was earlier wanted by the Pune Rural Police in connection with the brutal murder of criminal Unkar Pankele alias Rania from Manchar district of Pune in August 2021. An official of Pune Rural Police said they had arrested Jadhav in connection with Pankele’s murder.

Jadhav, who hails from Pokhari village in Pune province, has up to five cases registered against him with Pune Rural Police, including murder, attempted murder and extortion. He was also booked under the Maharashtra Strict Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA).

Last week, Pune resident Asma Jadhav and Sidah Campbell, better known as Sourav, Mahakal, appeared in the Musiwala murder case. Campbell has already been arrested by the Pune Rural Police from the border district of Pune Ahmadnagar on charges of providing shelter to Jedhav after Pankele was killed when the police were looking for him.

Congress leader and singer Shabdeep Singh Sidu aka Sidu Musiwala was shot dead near Mansa on May 29, days after the Punjab government cut its security coverage along with many others in the state. Punjab police said the 27-year-old Musiwala was shot while he was driving his SUV in Jawahar Key village in Mansa district with two others. He was taken to Mansa Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
