RS polls: Cong expels Haryana MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi over cross-voting charges

The decision comes a day after Congress’s Ajay Maken lost to BJP-JJP independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma in the Rajya Sabha elections with a mustache. Congress has decided to take stern action against Bishnoi on the allegations of ‘complete indiscipline’.

The Congress on Saturday expelled Haryana legislator Kuldeep Bishnoi from all seats of the party, including a special invitation from the Congress Working Committee.

The decision comes a day after Congress’s Ajay Maken lost to BJP-JJP independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma in the Rajya Sabha elections with a mustache. The embarrassed Congress has decided to take stern action against Bishnoi over allegations of ‘complete indiscipline’ in the Rajya Sabha elections.

“The party has taken Bishnoi’s discipline seriously because he did not vote for an official candidate of the Congress. Vivek Bansal, who is in charge of the Haryana Congress and the party’s official agent for the Haryana Rajya Sabha elections, has said that strict action will be taken against Bishnoi.

In Haryana’s two seats, BJP’s Krishan Lal Pawar, Congress’ Ajay Makan and BJP-JJP-backed independent candidate Karthikeya Sharma are in the fray.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who arrived at the complex at 2 am in the morning to congratulate the winners, thanked Bishnoi who voted for Sharma.

“They should have done this only after they were influenced by the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. Bishnoi has heard the voice of his inner self to connect with the sentiments of the nation, ” the chief minister said.
