A double barrel gun of 70 bore and 11 live cartridges were seized during a search operation of a DMU train at Katihar railway station.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel in Katihar on Tuesday seized a double-barreled gun and 11 live cartridges from a DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) Katihar-Manihari train under the Katihar rail division of the North East Frontier Railway.
“A double barrel gun of 70 bore and 11 live cartridges were recovered during a search operation of a DMU train at Katihar railway station,” RPF officials said.
“The train was empty and when we searched the coaches we spotted a gunny sack and we found a gun and live cartridges.”

Confirming the recovery, Katihar GRP (Government Railway Police) Station House Officer (SHO) Mahendra Prasad said, “A gun and cartridges were recovered during a search led by RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Dilip Majumdar of DMU Trains.”
He informed that the RPF has also seized the uniforms of the security company. He said the gun and cartridges may belong to security personnel.
“If it is a case of disappearance, there should be an FIR,” RPF sources said.
