Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the opening collection of the film on Twitter. He wrote, “#Rashtra KavachaOm is dull on day 1… National chains [#PVR, #INOX, #Cinepolis] Find limited patronage, but mass belt records good occupancy [due to action]… need to cover lost ground on day 2 and 3… Fri ₹ 1.51 crore #IndiaBiz.”
Directed by Kapil Verma, the film stars Jackie Shroff, Prachi Shah Pandya, Prakash Raj, Ashutosh Rana, Bijou Thanjam and Elnaaz Norouji in dance. It was previously titled Om: The Battle Within.
A Hindustan Times review of the film said it touched ‘new heights of absurdity’ and read: “Rashtra Kavacha Om does a disservice not only to the genre it claims to belong to, but to audiences who want to see Aditya Roy Kapur. Instead of just packing a punch, the big screen is doing something substantial and in slow-mo. Makes you feel the impact.
Aditya made his debut with the 2013 film Aashiqui 2 and has appeared in films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Fitoor, OK Jaanu and Ludo. The actor said that he was approached for Rashtra Kavacha Om right after the trailer of his 2020 film Malang dropped.
“Kapil saw me in that trailer where I was big. He thought he was my person and he called me Om. It is an adventure film and I grew up as an adventurer and am a big action buff. I have watched all the movies of action stalwarts like Sylvester Stallone, Jackie Chan and (Jean-Claude) Van Damme,” he told PTI in an interview.
