Randeep Surjewala’s ‘Cheerharan’ Goof-up When He Confuses Draupadi With Goddess Sita; BJP Hits Out

Congress spokesman Randeep Surjwala got into controversy on Thursday after mistakenly referring to Draupadi’s “congratulations” as a Sita while attacking the BJP government for allegedly abusing central investigative agencies ahead of the Rajasthan Rajya Sabha elections.

In a video circulating on social media, Surjwala is heard saying that the BJP is here to run for the elections “trusting” the central agencies – ED, CBI and Income Tax and they lost the previous Rajya Sabha elections. Truth, democracy, law and morality will triumph. Clad in a blanket of lies (BJP)… Like the chant of Goddess Sita, they want to do the joy of democracy. They will lose (the Rajya Sabha elections) and their masks will fall off.

In the Mahabharat, Duryodhan and his brother Dushashan attempted to use the “Shura Harran” or “Haran chant” of Draupadi.

The BJP criticized the remark and said Congress denies the existence of Lord Ram.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Jai Hind said in a Twitter post: “Even as a Muslim, I know Cher Haran was not from Maa Sita but from Draupadi! But then Congress denied the existence of Shri Ram! You can wear a gyno on the coat but what Inside you will always appear.”

Elections for the four seats of the Rajya Sabha of Rajasthan will be held on Friday, with the ruling Congress set to win two seats and one BJP for the opposition. Congress currently has 108 lawmakers in the 200-member state assembly and needs 123 votes to win three seats. The Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) with two MLAs provided support to the ruling party.

Fearing the horse trade, Congress on June 2 transferred the MLAs and some independent lawmakers who support it to a resort in Udaipur. They are expected to return to Jaipur on Thursday, a day before the polls.
