Pooja Vastrakar claimed a four-wicket distance as Supernovas scored a confirmed 49-round victory over the Trailblazers in the opening match of the women’s T20 Challenger 2022 at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium, Pune. Vastrakar, who impressed many during the ODI World Cup earlier this year, brought her A to the table with the ball as she dismantled the Trailblazers star-studded strike lineup.
Chasing the 164-time goal, Smriti Mandhana and Hayley Matthews engaged 39 rounds of the opening wicket before Vastrakar knocked out the Windies all-around in 18. Skipper Mandhana then joined forces with Jemimah Rodrigues as they progressed the innings. However, the supernova shooters caught in the pack to cause a major blow crash. From 63/1, Trailblazers dropped to 73/7 in no time. The Tailors gave some fighting to the opposition and avoided the embarrassment of throwing the ball when they finished 114/9 in 20 overs.

Earlier, the Supernovas recorded the highest women’s T20 Challenge total ever – 163 in the opening game of the season against defending champion Trailblazers.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who picked the racket after winning the draw, scored the best goals with 37 from 29 balls while Harleen Deol and Dendra Doten scored 35 and 32 respectively.
However, they lost five stakes in the last two parts for just eight runs, including Kaur, in a dramatic meltdown.
