Fuel prices remained unchanged today. The rates have remained stagnant since the government announced on 21 May to cut the excise tax on petrol by Rs 8 per liter and on diesel by Rs 6 per liter. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced this reduction in the excise tax on both petrol and diesel. After the sharp reduction in excise duty, the price of petrol fell to Rs 96.72 per liter and the retail price of diesel fell to Rs 89.62 per liter in Delhi.
In Mumbai, petrol was retailing at Rs 111.35 per liter and diesel would cost you Rs 97.28 per liter as of June 10. While in Kolkata, petrol is available at Rs 106.03 per liter and diesel is available at Rs 92.76 per liter.
Public sector oil marketing companies, including Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), are responsible for reviewing fuel prices on a daily basis.
The rise or fall in the price of fuel depends on international crude oil prices, as well as the exchange rate of the rupee against the dollar. It should be noted that retail prices for gasoline and diesel vary from state to state due to local taxes such as VAT or VAT and shipping charges.
