Author and TV presenter Padma Lakshmi’s Instagram page is filled with various interesting posts. From giving a peek into her personal life to talking about her professional world to sharing posts about food, she shares a variety of things on her page. Like her recent share about a pickle recipe she inherited from her grandmother.
“Lemon pickle. This is a classic recipe for puckering, hot pickles that I learned from my grandmother, Jima. It’s very easy to make, but it does require a bit of planning as lemons take 6 months to pickle,” she posted. In the next few lines, she added a few lines about how pickles can be enjoyed.
“Lemon pickle (also called aachar or orga) tastes good on anything. You can use it as a flavoring for meat or sandwiches, and throw a dollop into the pan when making home fries or sauteing vegetables. But my favorite way to enjoy it is with a big bowl of thair sadam (yogurt rice),” he added. He also posted a detailed recipe in the rest of the title.
In the video, Padma Lakshmi first shows lemon wedges marinating in sea salt for six months. She introduces all the spices to be used and how. The rest of the video shows her making pickles.

It says keep it in an airtight container for up to a year… but does it have to be in the fridge? Thanks!! I’m excited to try!” questioned the fourth. To which Padma Lakshmi replied, “You can store it in the fridge, but not necessarily.”
