Now ‘Land for Job’ Scam Haunts Lalu Yadav & Kin; CBI Raids At least 16 Locations in Delhi & Bihar

Raids by Central Investigation Teams are underway in at least 15 locations linked to former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members. The new fees are linked to a scam on Earth. Sources told News18 that some people were given railway jobs from Bihar division by the RJD chief during his tenure as CEO.

“Lands were bought cheaply by Lalu Yadav family members instead of providing railway jobs,” the sources said, adding that CBI has evidence of at least a dozen such cases so far. They further said that the Yadav family was planning a project by creating a land basin.

A CBI source said a total of 16 locations are being searched so far, including districts in Delhi, Patna and Gopalganj.

“It is unfortunate that a sick person is deliberately disturbed in this way. It is well known who is behind this,” said Prabhunath Yadav, brother of RJD Chairman Lalu Yadav.

The former Chief Minister of Bihar earlier this year was sentenced to five years in prison and has been fined Rs 60,000 by the CBI Special Court in Ranchi in connection with the fifth fodder fraud case involving the embezzlement of more than Rs 139 crore by Duranda Treasurer.

The fodder scam, known as chaara ghotala, refers to dozens of cases of financial irregularities amounting to about Rs 930 crore in the animal husbandry division of the undivided state of Bihar between 1985-1995.

Prasad had held the financial portfolio of the undivided state of Bihar, in which he was chief minister, during the fraud. He allegedly received commissions from the animal husbandry department.

Fake bonds and bills that were liquidated by the Finance Department were raised and the money was released through the treasury.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) warned against money laundering in Bihar state treasury bonds in 1985, when details of the expenditure were not provided in time. At that time, Congress was in power in the state and Jagannath Mishra was the chief minister.
