No one comes back to form while resting: Irfan Pathan’s cryptic tweet after India name squad for West Indies series

After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 16-member line-up for the upcoming three-match ODI series in the West Indies, a former multi-level Indian player posted an cryptic tweet that read: “Nobody is back in formation while resting”.

Pathan’s opinion comes on the back of India’s defeat in the Fifth Test against England in Edgbaston where regular captain Rohit Sharma was missed due to Covid-19 and Virat Kohli with scores of 11 and 20 respectively.

Shekhar Dhawan was named captain of the India national team in the three matches against the West Indies. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant Jaspreet Bumrah, Muhammad Shami and Hardik Pandya were all rested from the series.

The games in the West Indies are the only matches that India will play before the T20 World Cup in Australia, so the break for the top players comes as no surprise altogether.

Meanwhile, the men in blue, led by Rohit Sharma, are ready to fight against England in the three T20I series that begins on Thursday.

Shekhar Dhawan (captain), Ruturaj Gaekwad, Shopman Gil, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishaan Kishan (week), Sanju Samson (week), Ravindra Jadeja (vice captain), Chardol Thakur, Yozvendra Chahal, Aksar Patel, Avish Khan, Prased Krishna, Muhammad Siraj, Arshdeep Singh.
