‘No irregularity in construction of houses for affected persons’: BMC

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has denied allegations of fraud of Rs 9,380 crore in construction of Project Affected Persons (PAP) housing units on private land. In a statement on Friday, BMC said there were no financial irregularities in obtaining rents for people affected by the project.

“BMC implements vital projects to build roads, bridges, storm drains, expand Nala/River, and lay rainwater and water pipes for the benefit of the general public. To carry out this business, it incurs expenses of thousands of crores. In many locations, the structures of the people who occupy the workplace are affected by it. In accordance with current government policies, these project-affected persons should be rehabilitated free of charge,” the BMC stated, adding, “This is an attempt to mislead and mislead the public at large, which could tarnish the image of BMC.” Hence the apprehensions and allegations regarding bid and approval of exorbitant returns to bidders are not based on facts.”
