NIA gets 10-day custody of Udaipur murder accused, protesters throng court shouting slogans

The police had a hard time dealing with lawyers and local residents who chanted slogans against the accused, including hanging them to death. While the officers were trying to get the accused back into the police van, they had to quarrel with a large crowd, some of whom allegedly also managed to attack the accused.

Kanhaiya Lal Teli was hacked to death by Muhammad Riaz and Gus Muhammad on June 28 due to sharing notes made by Nupur Sharma of the BJP about the Prophet Muhammad. While the two were arrested on the same day, police arrested Asif Hussain and Mohsin Khan later.

On Saturday, Riaz and Ghahaus were brought to a court in Jaipur with their faces covered. Court No. One of the CBI, which deals with NIA cases, sent them into ten-day confinement with the National Investigation Agency (NIA). With the agency in charge, Rajasthan Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) handed over all documents related to the case to the National Intelligence Agency.
