Named in Sidhu Moosewala’s killing, Pune man held in Kutch, had a makeover

Days after being named as one of the alleged shooters in the murder of Seydu Musiwala in Punjab last month, Pune Rural Police on Sunday arrested 23-year-old Santosh Jadhav from a small village in Kutch. According to the police, Jadhav went into hiding after altering his appearance with the help of one of his assistants.

Pune police investigations also revealed that Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, who is suspected of masterminding Musiwala’s murder, has its traces in Maharashtra as well.

Last week, Asma Jadhav, 23, and Pune’s 19-year-old Campbell, alias Sourav better known as Mahakal, appeared in connection with the murder case. Pune Rural Police – who were already looking for Jadhav because he was the main suspect in a local murder last year – have stepped up their hunt. Police initially arrested Campbell from the Pune-Ahmadnagar district border on June 7.

Several Pune Rural Police were sent to various places in Punjab, Delhi and Gujarat to search for Jadhav. After information gathered during Campbell’s interrogation as well as input obtained through ground-level intelligence gathering, the Pune police team in Gujarat focused on the suspect identified as Navnath Suryavanshi (27), who hails from Satara district and was He lives in Mandvi city in Kutch district.

The interrogation of Suryavanshi, a friend of Jadhav, revealed the latter’s location in a small village near Mandvi with less than 100 families. On Sunday, a team of Pune Rural Police arrested Jadhav, who had shaved his head in an attempt to alter his appearance. Police said it was Suryavanshi who helped Jadhav go into hiding.

“Jadhav had distinctly curly hair but apparently changed his appearance to avoid being identified.” Pony said Rural Police Director Abhinav Deshmukh. Jadhav and Suryavanshi appeared in court in Pune at midnight on Sunday and Monday. The two were held in remand by the Pune Rural Police until June 20.

Initial information indicates that Jadhav and two others, Suryavanshi and Mahakal, have links to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. We also suspect that they are related to Moosewala’s murder and are trying to ascertain the exact role they played in the murder. So far, we have just had the custody of Mahakal. “Now that we have the custody of Jadhav and Suryavanshi, we will investigate how they are related to the Bishnoi gang and whether they have any plans in Maharashtra,” Additional Director General of Police Kulwant Kumar Sarangal said.

Our investigation indicates that Mahakal had contact with Santosh Jadhav in 2021 and was with him in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh. We also know that following directions from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, Mahakal conducted a survey of some targets in Punjab and Haryana. The Bishnoi gang is an all India group and it has its footprints in Maharashtra also that’s why we are coordinating with the police from Punjab and Delhi. We also actively share information with each other. We think there may be more people in Maharashtra associated with the outfit,” Sarangal added.

When Sarangal was asked about how these young men from Pune had contact with the Bishnoi gang, he said, “The investigation indicates that Mahakal was in contact with Jadhav and with his help, he also traveled to Punjab and Haryana earlier. Through Jadhav, he contacted Vikram Prar, who is a key member of Jadhav. The Bishnoi gang. Now, Jadhav’s interrogation will reveal how the gang communicated with these people and for what purpose.”

When Campbell was questioned regarding the threatening letter sent to Salim Khan and actor Salman Khan in Mumbai, Sarangal said: “He has provided some information on the matter but we are checking it. Initial investigation indicates that Mahkal was aware of the threat made to Salman Khan. We will question Also Jadhav and Suryavanshi on this topic. Our team is already in Delhi to question Lawrence Bishnoi.”

Jadhav, who hails from Pokhari village in Pune district, was earlier wanted by Pune Rural Police for the murder of history writer Onkar Pankili alias Rania, who was shot dead in broad daylight in Manchar district on August 1, 2021.

Jadhav has five cases registered against him with the Pune Rural Police, including cases of murder, attempted murder and extortion. He has also been booked under the strict Maharashtra Law to Monitor Organized Crime. Jadhav’s arrest by Pune Rural Police is for his alleged role in the Pankele murder, but the police are also investigating his and his associates’ alleged links to the Musiwala case.
