NCB Mumbai launched an operation at Mumbai airport and confiscated 4.8 kg of Karas on Friday. Two people were arrested in connection with the detention on Saturday. An official said that based on specific information, a team from NCP Mumbai confiscated 4,880 kg of Karas in Mumbai on Friday. The seized drugs were hidden in a special cavity inside the water purifier. The parcel was bound for Australia. During the follow-up procedure, the sender and the courier agent were intercepted by the National Commercial Bank of Mumbai.
During the initial interrogation, investigators learned that the courier concessionaire was also involved in drug smuggling. The courier agent sent the parcel without verifying the sender’s identity and also shipped it several times on the instructions of the main recipient.
The fake ID was used by the sender to ship the parcel by courier. This network has shipped many such packages in the past, an official said. The central office said the prime minister had created layers in the delivery network, adding that a case had been registered and two people had been placed under arrest.
In a related development, the National Commercial Bank of Mumbai launched two operations in Andheri (E), Mumbai, to withdraw 490 grams of methamphetamine on Friday and 435 grams of amphetamine on Saturday. One person was arrested in connection with the operation. While in one case, contraband, hidden in a voltmeter, was sent to New Zealand, in the second it was intended for Australia and hidden in nut bolts.
