Mumbai police have summoned the arrested BJP spokesman Nupur Sharma to register a statement on June 25 regarding her objectionable remarks against the Prophet Muhammad, an official said here Saturday.
The first media report (FIR) against Sharma was recorded at Bidoni police station in the city earlier this week after her comments about the Prophet during a televised debate sparked controversy.
The official said that the police wanted her statements recorded in the case and were asked to appear before the investigating officer at 11 am on June 25.
The police had earlier requested a video recording of the debate from the relevant news channel. The BJP suspended Sharma and expelled another leader, Naveen Jindal, who tweeted similar comments.
