Mumbai: MLA Hitendra Thakur seeks metro line between Vasai and Bhayandar

Bahujan Chief Vikas Aghadi and MLA Hitendra Thakur have asked the Mumbai Metropolitan District Development Authority (MMRDA) to start metro train service between Vasai and Bhayandar.

Besides writing a letter to MMRDA Commissioner SVR Srinivas about the request, Naallasopara MLA Kshitij Thakur met with Additional Urban Commissioner KH Govindaraj on Friday.

“A car shed is being built for the Bhayandar extension on the outskirts of Mumbai in Bose Maidan in Uttan, Bhayandar West. In order to alleviate passenger travel issues, I request you to add Bhayandar-Vasai Road in the same construction,” said Hitendra Thakur, adding that “Lakh of people travel from Vasai to Island City. People face different kinds of difficulties while navigating.”

MMRDA has directed officials to consider the proposal and verify the technical aspects of building a metro line.

In his letter to the MMRDA Commissioner, Thakur also addressed the need to prioritize the construction of a bridge over the Naigaon-Bhayandar Creek. He also suggested other Vasai taluka infrastructure development projects in a large number of letters written to the metropolitan commissioner.

The construction of these infrastructure projects will greatly help travelers to save travel time. “These projects will ensure last-stage connectivity in the entire metropolitan area,” said Kshitej Thakur.
