Mumbai: Paidoni Police Station in Mumbai has issued summons to the suspended National Spokesman of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nupur Sharma to appear before the police on June 25 for filing an objectionable statement against the Prophet Mohammed during a news channel.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey met with several representatives of the Muslim community on Saturday and appealed for peace and promised to take action in the matter.
A senior police officer confirmed that we had called her to record her statement.
Summons sent by post. Paidoni police filed a case on May 29 following a complaint by Irfan Sheikh, joint secretary of the Mumbai Wing of the holiday academy, that I was hurt by the comments in the TV debate.
Police have filed an FIR against Sharma for allegedly harming religious feelings, promoting hatred and causing public mischief.
Earlier, on June 7, Thane’s Mumbra police had summoned Sharma to attend an inquiry on June 22.
Bhiwandi police have issued summons to Nupur Sharma and advised him to attend the police station in the next few days.
Senior police inspector Chetan Kakde of Bhoiwada police station said, “We have summoned her recently and asked her to attend the police station for interrogation. The date of the summons cannot be disclosed for security reasons. ”
Bhiwandi police registered an FIR against Sharma on May 30.
Meanwhile, top cop Pandey held a meeting on Saturday with several representatives of the Muslim community and Maulana on the issue. Pandey requested the community to maintain peace and promised to take legal action against Sharma.
“We have two demands, one is to arrest Sharma and the other is to give a clear message that in the future people will not disrupt communal harmony in the country. The commissioner sounded positive to us and promised us all cooperation, ”he said

Representatives of various mosques and leaders of Sunni Jamiyatul Ulama, All India Mosque Council, Sunni Masjid e-Bilal, Hari Mosque, Madanapura, Nagapada, Minara Masjid and Zuma Mosque were present.
