The SSP on Monday suspended SI and transferred him to the police line.

The SSP department has also taken action against three other police personnel on the spot.

The youth vandalized a police vehicle

A team of SI-led Mubarikpur police post patrolled the Haibatpur road around 10.45 pm and stopped Tarn Taran resident Akshay and his mistress on suspicion.

When asked to hand over his bag for inspection, Akshay protested against improper conduct with the police, but his fiance called his sister and brother Hitesh, who showed him with his friends at the venue.

The group acted inappropriately with the police team and vandalized their vehicle with bricks and stones. SI Singh shot Hitesh’s leg to control the situation, police said.

Hitesh claimed that the SI was drunk and molesting his sister and his friends and he were shot when he resisted his behavior.

Video of the incident has been shared on social media showing the SI firing at Hitesh’s leg while the victim and his friends were unarmed.

The SI then dragged Hitesh’s younger sister to the road. She was admitted to Sector 32 Government Medical College and Hospital along with Hitesh.

The video showed that other police personnel who were with SI Balwinder Singh did not intervene while on patrol and did not control the situation.
