Mobile of KGMU doctor’s wife hacked

On Thursday, an unknown user hacked the mobile phone of a King George Medical University (KGMU) doctor’s wife and sent messages asking for financial assistance for their contacts, police officials said.

King George Medical University’s (KGMU) doctor’s wife’s mobile phone has been hacked by an unknown user and messages were sent Thursday seeking financial help for their contacts, senior police officials said here Sunday. He said doctors lodged an FIR against unknown mobile users at Wazirganj police station on Friday.

According to police, the incident took place with the wife of Dr Avinash Agarwal, a resident of KGMU Faculty Flat on Jagat Narayan Road in Wazirganj. Dr Agarwal mentioned in an FIR that an unknown mobile user hacked his wife’s mobile, then blocked incoming calls to their number. She said her number of WhatsApp instant messaging apps were also blocked.

He said the hacker sent messages to his wife’s contacts and requested financial help as they got into some deep trouble. He said this when some of his regular contacts called him and checked across the message seeking financial aid.

He said that the incoming calls to the mobile number were restored when they contacted the telecom service provider and informed them of blocking incoming calls. The police have lodged an FIR under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code under the Fraud and 66-D Information Technology Act.
