‘Mastermind’ behind head clerk exam paper leak arrested from Sabarkantha

Police have arrested the alleged ‘mastermind’ behind the leaked employment examination papers, Tushar Mir, from a village in Sparkantha on Sunday. Days after Yuvrajsenh Jadeja, the whistleblower, claimed that Mir was still on the run.

According to police, Mer from Sonpari village of Prantij Taluka was arrested on Saturday by a team from Prantij Police Station for his alleged role in leaking the question paper for the recruitment examination conducted by the Gujarat Secondary Service Selection Board (GSSSB) in December 2021.

Mir is the 36th accused caught in the Brantage and Gandhinagar paper leak scandal in which question papers of recruitment examination were leaked to the shortlisted candidates before the examination for 10-15 lakh rupees.

On Thursday, Jadeja held a press conference in Ahmedabad where he alleged that Mir was the “mastermind” of the paper leak case and that he arranged for the candidates to be housed on a farm in a village in Brantage where the question papers were resolved for them. advance.

Speaking to The Indian Express, BB Vajela, Inspector, Prantij PS, said, “We have arrested the accused and brought him before the judge for 14 days of pretrial detention. We have received six days of pretrial detention for him.”

More than 88,000 candidates passed the recruitment exam on December 12, 2021 to fill 186 vacancies.

Days after the exam, Jadeja claimed that the paper had been previously leaked. Under pressure, the state government agreed to the newspaper leak and canceled the exams. It was held again on March 20 this year. According to the police, the paper leak occurred through a private printing press in Ahmedabad that had been awarded a contract by GSSSB to publish question papers.

A criminal case has been registered at Brantage Police Station in Sabarkantha District. A total of 36 people from Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Sabarkantha have been arrested in the case and out of the 36 people are 9 in jail and the rest are out of jail on bail. The police have already filed a charge sheet in the case.
