Bhandop police on Sunday registered a suicide incitement case against a 28-year-old man for allegedly assaulting and molesting his 24-year-old wife, who ended her life by hanging. Police said the two married in August 2020.
“Without informing anyone, they went to Bandra court and got married. Later they informed their parents, and once they were persuaded, the two started staying together in Bhandop,” said one of the officers.
But a few months later, there were regular quarrels between them in which the 28-year-old manhandled the woman rough, police said.
In 2021, due to constant abuse, the woman returns to her parents’ home. She refused to go to her husband’s house but after the 28-year-old girl’s parents visited her and promised her that their son would not abuse her, she went back and started staying with them,” said one of the officers.

On Saturday afternoon, her husband’s family informed the deceased’s father that she had ended her life by hanging herself. The woman was taken to Rajwadi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon admission.
