Maharashtra political crisis: PIL filed in HC seeking probe for public nuisance, sedition against Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, Raut

A Pune-based activist has filed a lawsuit against the law in the Bombay High Court seeking directions to the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) to conduct an investigation and record the FIR against Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray, Minister Aditya Thackeray and MP Shiv Sena Sanjay. Raised to stir up sedition and allegedly caused public inconvenience.

The Protection of Law introduced by Hemant Baburao Patel is also seeking an order preventing them from organizing press conferences, tours and visits to various places in Maharashtra on the issue of rebellious MLAs.

Patel, who is known for petitioning on most important or politically sensitive issues in Maharashtra, many of which have yet to be heard by the High Commission for Refugees, claimed that after a political crisis, defectors from MLAs fled to Guwahati to protect their lives after receiving threats from Thackerays and Raut.

He claimed that the protests organized by Shiv Sena cadre in different parts of Maharashtra were the only way to strike fear in the minds of the citizens, who were apprehensive about riots like the situation and violence in the state and that most of the protests were organized under the influence and instigation of Thackeray father and son duo and Raut.

“…in various districts of Maharashtra, anti-social elements have destroyed public property in the state in front of police personnel and there is a breach of law and order in the state for which only the defendants are responsible.” He claimed in his political isolation law.

Patel, who introduced the PIL through apologist RN Kachave, said that the central government providing Y plus security to the MLAs was a sign of a breach of peace in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra is in the midst of political turmoil after a rebellion by MLAs of Governor Shiv Sena led by party leader Eknath Shinde.
