Ludhiana: 31-year-old man arrested with 2 kg heroin, ₹8 lakh

Ludhiana Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested 2.05 kg heroin and a 31-year-old man. 8 lakh on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Akash Chopra alias Hani of Mohalla Gurmel Park on Tibba Road. The STF seized eight cars, three motorcycles and three scooters. He has been involved in drug dealing for the past seven years and is already facing trial in several cases, police said.

Inspector Herbans Singh, in-charge of STF Ludhiana unit, said that Akash was arrested from Tajpur Road on the basis of a tip off that he was going to deliver drugs on his scooter.

During the inspection, STF confiscated 1.25 kg of heroin from his scooter with an electronic weighing machine and empty packets. The STF then raided Chopra’s home and seized 800 grams of heroin. 8 lakhs.

Toyota Fortuner, two Maruti Suzuki Swifts, Hyundai Accent, Mercedes, Lancer, Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Gypsy; Three bikes and two more scooters have been seized, including the Royal Enfield Bullet.

“Chopra was helping his father at a tea shop in the new court complex. His father-in-law dismissed him for engaging in illegal activities.

“Chopra installed tinted window glass and hooters for his cars. The vehicle had the VIP tag inserted to prevent it from being inspected. They were lending money and charging 10% interest, ”he said.

A case has been registered against the accused under section 21 of the NDPS Act at STF police station in Mohali.

PO Possession Required in Drugs Case

The Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday arrested a declared perpetrator in the Drugs case two and a half years ago.

The accused has been identified as Harmanjit Singh alias Goldi of Samarla of Kubba village.

Herbal Singh, in charge of STF Ludhiana, said that Harmel Singh alias Laddi was arrested with a 190 gram smack and Hermanjit Singh managed to escape.

On October 22, 2021, the court declared him guilty of the offense. The inspector added that the accused was moving to avoid the police.

He was wanted by police in another case of drug trafficking as he began to escape court hearings after being granted bail.
