Kochi police book Congress leader K Sudhakaran over comment against CM Pinarayi Vijayan

The Kochi City Police registered the case under Section 153 (Deliberate Provocation with Intent to Cause Riot) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the complaint of CPI(M) cadres.

While campaigning in Thrikkakara near Kochi, where the assembly seat by-election is scheduled for May 31, Sudhakaran on Tuesday told the media, “He (CM Vijayan) is moving like a dog that broke his chain… Is there anyone controlling him?” Is anyone convincing him? He’s moving everywhere.”

Sudhakaran was referring to the Vijayan camp in the constituency of Dr. Joe Joseph of the ruling CPI (M) party.

Denouncing the congressional head of state’s comments, CPI(M) has stated that it will explore legal remedies against the MP.

While his comments called out the ire of the left, Sudhakaran said he was only using a proverb. “I only questioned the constituency’s Vijayan camp by spending money from the public treasury when the state faced a severe financial crisis. I questioned this mistake. If my words hurt anyone, I am ready to withdraw them.”
