Khadi commission head Vinai Kumar Saxena is Delhi’s new Lieutenant Governor

Vinay Kumar Saxena, who is currently the Chairman of the Khadi Village Industries Commission (KVIC), has been appointed as the new Deputy Governor (LG) for Delhi.

According to officials, the President of India agreed to The resignation of former Mr. LG Anil Bijal Saxena was appointed as his successor.

“The President of India has had the pleasure of appointing Vinay Kumar Saxena to be the Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi as of the date of his assumption of office,” reads a press note issued by Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, tweeted after the announcement, “Ex-LG Anil Baijal has worked together in Delhi on many projects and tried to solve many issues. He is a very kind man. I wish him well in the future and wish him health and long life. I welcome Newly appointed LG, Vinai Kumar Saxena on behalf of the people of Delhi. He will get the full support of the Cabinet for the improvement of Delhi.”

Saxena, 64, has completed his graduation from Kanpur University. According to his KVIC profile, he also has a pilot’s license and is “a philanthropist in vision and an institutional scientist at work”.

He worked with JK Group as Assistant Manager for 11 years and was promoted to General Manager to sponsor a proposed port project in Gujarat.

He was appointed Head of KVIC in October 2015. For the past seven years, he has worked on schemes and products such as Mission Honey, Kumhar Sachaktikaran Yojana, Empowering Leather Craftsmen, Khadi Prakritik Dahan and RE-HAB Project. And shoes made of cloth and handmade paper from plastic.
