Jagged Jio had an impressive opening and it did 37 crores at the domestic box office in the first weekend. The numbers fell on Monday when the film saw a 50 percent drop in collections. The collections have been declining ever since.

Jagjag Jio is a comedy drama produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, in which the father (Anil) and son (Varun) tell the story of a family planning to divorce their partner.

The film is making its debut in Prajakta Kohli’s Bollywood. This marks the return of Neetu Kapoor after nine years. She was last seen in Besharam (2013), in which she appeared with her late husband Rishi Kapoor and her son Ranbir Kapoor.

Talking about what kind of film would work at the box office, director Raj Mehta told PTI in June, “Every week there are new theories about what kind of films will work or not. Some say it’s the big picture trend, some say it’s not entirely. There’s a lot of uncertainty, I think nobody knows what’s going to work. Does it increase anxiety? Absolutely.
