Johnny Depp’s ex-girlfriend Ellen Barkin says he was ‘jealous, controlling’

Johnny Depp’s ex-girlfriend, actor Ellen Barkin, called the actor “jealous, out of control and frequently drunk” during his testimony at Johnny’s defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. Ellen, who was dating Johnny in the ’90s, testified in favor of the defense. In Thursday’s pre-recorded testimony, she explained that Johnny once threw a bottle of wine in his hotel room in Las Vegas. Ellen, 68, said she had a brief “sexual relationship” with Johnny in the 1990s. Her testimony was videotaped in November 2019 and was played in a Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia on behalf of a jury of seven people who are prosecuting the defamation case.

In his testimony, he said that during the several months they were together, Johnny was frequently drunk and very jealous. “He was drinking a lot of time. He was drinking red wine. He was just jealous, controlling – ‘Where are you going? Who are you going with? What did you do last night?'” She said.

She claims that Johnny accused her of cheating. “Once there was a scratch on my back, which made him very angry because he insisted it was from me because he had sex with someone who wasn’t him,” Ellen said.

Johnny is suing Amber in a $ 50 million lawsuit. The bone of contention is the 2018 Washington Post article, where she calls herself a survivor of domestic abuse. Although the article does not name Johnny, his legal team argues that implication is defamatory and that the actor is deprived of work and social status. Johnny alleges that Amber was abusive in the relationship. Amber claims that Johnny was physically and sexually abusive towards her and sued him for $ 100 million. Both suits are being investigated simultaneously.

During the trial, the jury also heard testimony from Johnny’s former talent agent, his former business manager and 36-year-old Amber’s agent.

Earlier, during his four days at Johnny’s witness stand, he denied ever hitting Amber or any other woman and claimed that she was often violent. During her testimony on Wednesday, Amber admitted that she had beaten Johnny many times but argued that it was always in self-defense and not aggression.

Johnny, who filed a defamation complaint in the United States in 2019, filed a separate libel suit in London, bringing him against The Sun for calling him a “wife-beating”. He lost the case in November 2020.

Three-time Oscar nominee Johnny and Amber got married in February 2015. His divorce was finalized two years later. Judge Penny Azcarate set the case for a closing argument on May 27.
