Jehan Daruwala, who has never driven an F1 car and experiences the thrill for the first time at Silverstone. Based in Mumbai, the 23-year-old is currently associated with Red Bull Racing’s junior program and is driving on the F2 circuit for love racing.
Jehan Daruwala, who is currently racing in Formula 2, makes a test drive for McLaren in an attempt to pursue his Formula 1 aspirations. A test drive will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Daruwala, who never drove an F1 car and experienced the thrill of the first time at Silverstone. Based in Mumbai, the 23-year-old is currently associated with Red Bull Racing’s junior program and is driving on the F2 circuit for love racing.
Daruwala holds the most impressive record on the F2 circuit so far and finished the season’s fifth podium finish in Baku, Azerbaijan last month.
The 23-year-old debuted on the Formula 2 racing circuit in 2020 and performed well in the previous season. Daruwala won two races in the 2021 edition – Sprint Race 2 in Monza and Sprint Race in the Yas Marina Circuit 1. He then secured five podium finishes, which helped him accumulate a total of 113 points and finish seventh in the 2021 F2 Drivers Championship.
Daruwala had previously stated that the current season will either do or die. Interview with The red room.com, The 23-year-old said: “Winning the F2 Championship in 2022 and then hopefully I’ll get a chance at the F1 in 2023. Otherwise, the goal is to become a professional racing driver in the outdoor championship.”
And now with the racing giant McLaren securing a test drive, the Indians have made significant progress in that direction.
If all goes well, Daruwala will become India’s third driver to enter the F1 circuit. Currently only Naren Karthikeyan and Karun Chandok have come to the F1 circuit from the country.
