ISRO Selects 150 Students for its Residential Training Programme YUVIKA

YUVIKA, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) residential training program for 9th grade students, has attracted applications from around 1 children from across the country. The space agency has now selected about 150 students for the programme, which began on May 16 and ends on May 28.

About 1 lakh students apply to the program. Finally, 150 students were selected based on their academic grades and achievements in co-curricular activities,” says the ISRO official statement.

YUVIKA’s goal is to raise awareness among young people about new trends in science and technology. It hopes to encourage more students to pursue research or careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

According to ISRO, as part of this program, students will have the opportunity to network with outstanding scientists in addition to classroom lectures, sky gazing, robotic assembly, lab/facility tours, and “Cansat” experiments. It was also announced that all students will also be taken to SDSC SHAR- Sriharikota, the Indian Spaceport, for visit and face-to-face meeting with ISRO President S Somanath.

  • Training takes place at five of the space agency’s centers:
  • Aerospace Application Center in Ahmedabad
  • UR Rao Satellite Center in Bengaluru
  • Vikram Sarabhai Space Center in Thiruvananthapuram
  • National Remote Sensing Center in Hyderabad
  • Northeast Aerospace Application Center in Shillong

Somnath practically opened the program on Monday. During the opening, Sumanath encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunity to meet experienced scientists and technocrats. Also talk about multiple options and fields such as engineering, astrobiology, astrophysics, materials science, mathematics, chemistry, and computer science, all of which are essential components of space technology that students can take. The ISRO President urged students to become ‘ambassadors’ for ISRO, spreading the experience to their classmates, teachers, and the general public.
