Injured Murray withdraws from Queen’s Club Championships | Tennis News

Murray, a five-time champion at Queens, last won the title in 2016, suffering from an abdominal injury during Sunday’s Stuttgart Open final against Italian Mateo Berettini.

Former world number one Andy Murray has been forced to step down after an abdominal injury from the Queen’s Club Championship in London, the tournament’s organizer said on Monday.

Murray, a five-time champion at Queens, last won the title in 2016, suffering from an abdominal injury during Sunday’s Stuttgart Open final against Italian Mateo Berettini.

The 35-year-old was blocked by Scott’s movements, who were called to a physiotherapist twice and treated on the side of the court before finishing the match.

“The (Queen’s Club) tournament means a lot to me and it’s disappointing not to compete, especially after playing some good matches on the grass,” Murray said in a statement.

He last won the title on grass at Wimbledon in 2016, but his last ATP Tour victory came in 2019 in Antwerp. He has two weeks to recover before Wimbledon opens on June 27.
