The Indian Coast Guard rescued an injured fisherman from the sea off the coast of Gujarat on Saturday. The Hunters had been hit in the head and lost consciousness.
The evacuation was coordinated by the Indian Coast Guard station in Pipavav, after the Javrabad Fisheries Association informed them of the injured fisherman in the middle of the sea. Upon receiving the information, the Coast Guard sent a helicopter from Porbandar and a ship sailed from Pipavav to evacuate the fisherman.
The helicopter was able to locate the fishing boat “Dan Prasad” carrying the injured fisherman about 20 nautical miles from Jfarabad and helped the ship reach the site. After providing first aid to the injured fisherman, the ship took him and handed him over to the local fishing association in Pipavav.
An official statement stated that this is the second evacuation of its kind by the Coast Guard in the past 48 hours.
