In sync with NEP-2020: IGNOU inks MoU with ICAI

The MoU was signed on Friday between the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) in line with the New Education Policy -2020 (NEP 2020).

The event took place during the 60th National Expenditure Conference (NCC) -2022 of ICAI at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, New Delhi and CMA P. Raju Iyer, President of ICAI. On behalf of the Open University, Igno Registrar Alok Chaubey signed the MoU. Prof K Ravishankar, Director of School of Management Studies at IGNOU was also present. Prof. Rao was awarded the CMA Icon Award – 2222 in the program.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Nageshwar Rao said that signing on to the MoU will extend the transfer of credit to IGNOU students who have completed their CMA qualification courses. When a candidate gains admission to IGNOU programs, the MoU gives way to credit transfer for courses done by ICAI, ”he said.

The advantage of the credit transfer system is that the student will be able to complete a bachelor’s degree such as MBA, M Com, B Com by completing a small number of courses compared to other regular students of IGNOU.

Professor Rao highlighted the initiatives undertaken by IGNOU in compliance with NEP-2020. IGNOU is offering channel-based consultation in 13 regional languages ​​through its “Gyan Darshan” and “Self Prabha” DTH channels.

“The university offers 34 online programs,” he said. Prof Rao said the university is in the process of setting up extension centers in NSTIs, ITIs and Gen education institutions, which will give learners already enrolled in these institutions the opportunity to pursue higher education through Igno.

Manorama Singh, Senior Regional Director, IGNOU, Regional Center for Lucknow, said that the Regional Center is offering channel-based counseling in Hindi through the “Self Prabha” DTH channel.
