The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday that some parts of Delhi and its neighboring states, Rajasthan and Haryana, will experience heavy rainfall today. Weather alerts have been issued for individual parts of the capital and two other states.
Heavy rains are expected in the northwest and west parts of Delhi over the next two hours. The same weather is forecast in Siwani and Rohtak, Haryana and Pilani, Alwar and Rajasthan.
This forecast has been a long-awaited break for both Delhi and the northern states, which have been experiencing a heatwave comeback for the past few days.
Rainfall warnings were issued in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, South Uttar Pradesh, Northwest Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, Interior Odisha and Jharkhand for the remaining hours of Thursday and Friday (June 10) despite the meteorological warning.
Meanwhile, IMD general secretary Mritunjay Mohapatra reported on Wednesday that the monsoon rainfall is expected to begin by June 15 and a wet spell is likely to cover central India and the northern plains of the country.
