Hyderabad: Two men arrested for sexually assaulting minor siblings

Hyderabad police on Thursday arrested two men for the alleged sexual assault of two underage brothers, officers said. The defendants, Muhammad Imtiaz Ahmed, 23, and Muhammad Nawaz, 21, used to commit crimes involved in a series of crimes, according to the police.

Police said Ahmed had previously been booked in connection with 23 cases of theft and drug case, adding that he was detained and placed in prison under the Preventive Detention Law for one year in 2018. On June 8, the police received a sexual assault complaint and recorded the statement of the minor survivor in which she identified the violator . It is alleged that the accused took advantage of her after pretending to love her. Officers said he was booked under the IPC sections relating to kidnapping and rape and related sections of the Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act.

According to the police, Nawaz got to know the other minor survivor via Instagram and violated her under the guise of love and marriage. Based on her testimony, the police detained him under various sections of the Iraqi Penal Code and under Bouxou Law and returned him to judicial custody. The accused was previously involved in six criminal cases and was held under the PD Act for about six months in 2021.

Police said the two have abused survivors multiple times over the past year. The parents went to the police with two different complaints on June 8 after learning about the alleged abuse of their daughters, 15 and 17. Investigators said they arrested the defendants within 24 hours of the survivor’s statement being recorded. They added that further investigations are underway.
