The Karnataka High Court has given 12 weeks of time for the state government to practice demarcation and prepare the reservation list for Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayats. The Supreme Council approved the 12-week deadline requested by the state in the memorandum submitted before it. The Karnataka State Election Commission (SEC) approached the Electoral Commission by following the directives of the Supreme Court to conduct the elections immediately.
The state government had set up a Boundary Demarcation Commission and a Committee for the Backward Classes headed by a retired judge, as it informed the High Commissioner. The Securities and Exchange Commission accepted the government’s proposal. The High Commission of the Government has made it clear that it cannot seek an extension. The High Commission directed the Securities and Exchange Commission to announce the elections within a week after the government completed the demarcation and reservation process.
