Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday said they have arrested a government school principal and a clerk on the charge of accepting Rs 16,000 in cash as a bribe in Palanpur in Banaskantha district on Friday.
According to ACB officials, the accused Shailesh Chandra Mehta, Director of Sir Bhawanisinh Vidyalay in Danta, and Naresh Joshi, a clerk at the District Education Officer’s office in Palanpur, were arrested at Circuit House in Palanpur where they accepted Rs 16,000 in cash as a bribe. To provide a clerk job to the complainant.
“The two accused asked the complainant for a bribe of Rs 16,000 in order for his son to be appointed as a clerk in the Palanpur district administration office. After the complainant approached us, a trap was set up at Circuit House in Palanpur and the accused were caught red-handed,” an official at Gujarat ACB said.
Both defendants are currently in custody and will be held under sections of the Corruption Prevention Act.
