Chief Minister Basavaraj Bhumai on Tuesday said the Karnataka government has decided to create the ‘Mysuru Dasara’ brand and embark on an international advertising campaign to make it a major global event.
He said at a media conference after presiding over the meeting of the Mysuru Dasara Mahotsav-2022 High-Level Committee that it was decided to publish the Mysuru Dasara logo in all government advertisements, notifications and social media platforms. The Commissioner of Media and Public Relations has been instructed to conduct publicity campaigns at Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai airports;.
Government order within a week on Mysuru Tourism Circuit
The government order on Mysuru Tourist Circuit will be issued within a week. Tourism promotion programs will be formulated by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with private entities. The circuit will include Belloro, Halibido, and other places. All-inclusive single ticket packages covering travel, accommodation and other aspects will be offered. Bomai said that an exclusive website is also being developed for this purpose, and this would complement the initiatives of Mysuru Dasara.
Traditional practices will be revived
Many traditional rituals and practices associated with the state festival such as ‘Gaja Payana’ will be revived. This would attract greater participation from rural audiences, Bomaye said.
It was decided to open the 15th Dasara Fair before this year’s Dasara Fair. Bhumai said that a grant of Rs 1 crore has been given to each of the dasara festivities in Srirangapatna and Chamarajnagar.
Expenditure within the palaces buildings will be borne by the Palace Board of Directors, while MUDA will provide Rs 10 crore. Bomai said it was also decided to mobilize funds in the framework of corporate social responsibility.
As for cultural events, it was decided to encourage local talent and perform by at least one artist on a national level daily.
Dasara has had a minor affair for the past two years. The state government accepted popular opinion to make it a grand celebration this year. Navarathri Dasara will start on October 26th. Nandi Dhwaja Puja, Pushparchane and other traditional rituals will be performed on October 5, Vijayadashami. Bhumai said the return of Dasara elephants to their habitat on October 7 and 8 is ‘gaga paya’.
