Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Monday said that the Delhi government has adopted the ‘Green Park Green Delhi’ theme and has selected coordinators and heads of state, district and state levels to decorate the city’s parks and gardens under the chief minister’s park beautification project. Implement the project with coordination of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs).
The decision was taken after a high-level meeting on the previous day between Environment Minister, Delhi MLAs and Delhi Parks and Gardens Society (DPGS) officials. Rye said the process of helping RWAs participate in the project and helping the government to manage the parks was discussed in detail, giving each legislator information on the parks they need to focus on.
“In the first phase, a survey of 11,500 parks in Delhi’s 16,828 parks was completed by 70 teams of DPGS. Of these, 6,345 were found to be unmanageable,” Rai said, adding financial support for the beautification and development of these parks. ₹2.55 lakh per acre will be paid by DPGS in addition to RWA ₹1 lakh per acre for development and maintenance of new parks. “In addition, the issue of water (scarcity) has been addressed, ₹RWA said RWAs will be given Rs 3.50 lakh per acre for the installation of sewage treatment plants (for water recycling).
The minister said that RWAs need to submit an online application to take advantage of the project, highlighting the park they want to help manage. “The RWA must register on the Delhi government’s e-district portal, and once their eligibility is verified, all the necessary documents will be uploaded,” Rai said, adding that new appointments were made at the district and assembly level. Helps provide the training needed for RWAs.
“Under this scheme, we will have one caretaker in each assembly, one observer in each of the two assemblies and two coordinators to assist the public in Delhi’s parks development and online application process and training purposes. At the state level, ”he said.
