Ganesh Acharya granted bail by Mumbai court in sexual harassment case

A Mumbai court on Thursday granted bail to Ganesh Acharya, a Bollywood actor, in a sexual harassment case.

The Mumbai Magistrate’s Court on Thursday granted bail to dancer Ganesh Acharya in a sexual harassment case. A case has been filed at the Suburban Amboli Police Station against the choreographers in February 2020 for allegedly beating the assistant choreographer. The complainant alleges that Ganesh Acharya insisted on watching porn videos whenever he went to his office in 2009-10, he has done the same to other women. Ganesh Acharya has not yet been arrested in the case. He was granted bail after being produced before a magistrate court on Thursday. The complainant alleged that he had assaulted him with two others at a function of the Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association at Andheri on January 26, 2020. He has added complaints about sexual harassment in the past.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-C (viewing or capturing a picture of a woman engaged in a private act), 354-D (stalking), 506 (criminal). Threat) and Ganesh Acharya v. 509 of the IPC (aimed at insulting the word, gesture or respect of a woman). The choreographers have denied all the allegations.

Ganesh Acharya, 51, started his career as an assistant to choreographer Kamalji in the early 1990s. He worked on his first film Anam in 1992 but gained wide fame and recognition for his work on Badi Mushkil’s song Lajja in 2001. In 2007, he became director through Manoj Bajpayee and Juhi Chawla’s first project Swami. He has acted in several films, most notably as a villain in the 2012 film Rauthiram.
