The accident occurred after a tower crane used to transport construction materials on a residential project collapsed on the 14th floor.

In a tragic incident, two workers, including a crane operator and a car driver, were killed in a crane accident in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday evening. He was working at the Urban and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) Taloja Phase 2 project in Navi Mumbai, where it was under construction.

The accident occurred after a tower crane used to transport construction materials on a residential project collapsed on the 14th floor. The condition of two more workers is reported to be worrisome.

The wounded are currently being treated at MGM Hospital in Colombia.

Preliminary findings from Taloja police said the crane used to transport the construction materials was faulty.

“With the crane operator, the whole machinery went down and the workers and the driver were sitting on the parked car. The bodies were in complete disarray. Identifying the remains was challenging, an official said.

Under the Prime Minister Awas Scheme (PMAY), the development work lease was awarded to Sidco from a private construction company.

“The workers were working in a construction company that was contracted for the Taloja Phase 2 Sidco housing project. 7 lakhs for families of the deceased The contractor will bear Rs 2 lakh for all treatment costs, according to an official from Sidco’s PRO division.
