It is said that people who eat diets rich in vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, flavonoids, magnesium, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids are less likely to develop asthma. These foods are rich in antioxidants that help protect cell damage and boost immunity. Apart from that, by eating foods rich in these nutrients, the symptoms are reduced in asthmatics.

If you want to prevent asthma or reduce its symptoms, follow these simple nutritional tips.

  1. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are said to be great sources of antioxidants. Fruits and vegetables like kiwis, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, oranges and grapes are known to be rich in antioxidants. These help reduce inflammation and swelling in the lungs making the person breathe properly.
  2. Take Vitamin D
People with a lack of vitamin D in the body are more likely to develop asthma. Therefore, it is advised to include foods rich in Vitamin D in your diet. To get enough vitamin D, you should include milk, eggs and fish in your diet.
  3. Say no to sulfites
Sulfites are used as a preservative in many foodstuffs. Sulfites cause asthma symptoms in many people. Therefore, it is advised to stay away from foods rich in sulfur such as wine, dried fruits, pickles and shrimp.
  4. Watch out for food allergies
Food allergies often take a look at asthma symptoms and cause coughing and sneezing. Because of a food allergy, you may feel suffocated and unable to breathe. This can result in wheezing and other asthma symptoms to raise their level.
  5. Eat nuts and seeds
